Challenges
- Turkana is a vast landmass that is primarily Arid and Semi-Arid (ASALs) with a population density of 13 persons per Km2
- Limited resources restricted the timeline and coverage of the vaccination, deworming and neutering activities.
- The large dog population and close animal-human interaction among the communities exacerbates spread of zoonotic diseases.
- Low turn up of animals at vaccination site.
- Animal welfare concerns especially during restrain of dogs during vaccination.
